Getting to know us

The Montessori People is a industry-leading Thornaby-based Nursery School employing a team of 30 staff and caring for over 130 children. 

Independent problem-solving (central to our learning approach) is clearly demonstrated in our own DNA. After failing to find a suitable nursery for her own children, owner Michelle Tudor took up the challenge and set up her own. That was in 2011. Our success today and future direction are rooted in our values, our ethos and our mission – all clearly delivered by a highly qualified and highly motivated staff.

We put your child and their welfare first. For example, although the new statutory minimum staff:child ratio for 2-year-olds is 1:5, we are retaining 1:4 to maintain care quality and child safety. 

Today, we are the largest independent nursery in the north east and the only nursery in the region to be awarded Silver in Investors in People for People and Wellbeing.
